Clouds of Sils Maria
Valentine is the personal assistant to Maria Enders, an actress traveling to accept an award on behalf of reclusive playwright Wilhelm Melchior, whose play was Enders’ breakout role. En route to Zurich, Valentine and Maria get word that Wilhelm has died. While at the award ceremony-turned-memorial, Valentine convinces Maria to meet with a director about returning to the play that made her famous. Over the next several weeks, Valentine helps Maria prepare for the role, running lines and exchanging ideas about the themes and meaning of the play. Their perspectives differ on many things, including the potential of the actress set to play the role a younger Maria once did. One day, while on a hike, Valentine and Maria are arguing once more over the play and interpretations of it… then Valentine vanishes, never to be seen by Maria again.
