Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

Snow White is a little princess whose life is turned upside down when her father, the king, is murdered by the villainous beauty Ravenna. Imprisoned for years in the north tower of the same castle that she had grown up in, Snow White now spends her days praying alone. One day, a new prisoner arrives with word that there are still people on the outside loyal to Snow White’s family. With this information, Snow White soon escapes in search of aid to retake the kingdom. After tripping on mushroom dust in the dark forest, Snow White is captured by a Huntsman hired by the evil queen to return her. Thanks to the mercy of the Huntsman, Snow White is spared – and she convinces him to help her find the loyalist army. When a troll nearly eats them both, Snow White discovers she has the power to calm wild creatures. When a brief rest at a small village is interrupted by the queen’s men, Snow White and the Huntsman once again are forced to flee, but soon finding themselves captured by a group of dwarves. Fortunately, the dwarves are no friends to the queen and they take up Snow White’s cause. On the journey, Snow White is reunited with her childhood friend William, who carries the guilt of leaving her behind years ago. One day, whilst in the forest, Snow White is tricked by a shape-shifting Ravenna into eating a poisoned apple and seemingly dies. But upon being brought to the castle of the loyalist forces and receiving a kiss from the Huntsman, Snow White is revived and ready to lead an attack on Ravenna. After the dwarves help open the gates to Ravenna’s castle, Snow White finally delivers justice at the end of a sword. With the kingdom retaken and life restored to the land, Snow White takes her seat on the throne.
