Episode 7 – The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009)

Pippa Lee is a teen with a stressful home life, due issues with her mother and potential speed abuse. After running away from home, she moves in her aunt and her girlfriend. Soon she’s roped into her aunt’s girlfriend’s pornographic (?) photography venture. This leads to dangerous lifestyle of drugs and partying hard. One day on the beach she meets an older wealthy man, Herb, who takes an interest in her. They hit it off at his beach house party and she finds herself pursuing him, perhaps as an escape from the repetitive cycle of her “non ambitious” life. Their new relationship of course causes complications for Herb and his wife. After Herb’s wife kills herself in front on them, Pippa decides to marry Herb out of guilt?
Decades later, she and her husband, Herb, have relocated to accommodate the health issues a man of his age would expect to be having. They struggle with adjusting to their new situation, while maintaining old friendships and the drama arising within their social circle. This difficulty culminates in the revelation that Herb has been having an affair with one of their close friends. Pippa handles this quite well, better than her and Herb’s children do, and soon is having sex in the back of a van sub a man who has a chest tattoo of Jesus. Then Herb dies. Pippa, while troubled by the infidelity, recognizes that life and love is complicated, and bids Herb a loving farewell.
Now it’s time for a fresh start as she and her new tattooed friend head off on a new adventure…somehow this movie does not end with Walk of Life playing over the credits.
